I wrote the below script for a “relaunch” of REI gear and apparel.
We wanted to show all the research, testing and passion that goes into making REI products — that they’re not your everyday
house-brand goods.
“REI gear is built on purpose. Built on the mud, the sweat and the joy of every year since 1938. Built on an itch to climb further than the eye could see. Over the mountain. Beyond the horizon. Built of dawn, day and dusk on the trail, of weathered hands and overactive imaginations. Built because what we needed wasn’t there, and what we had, could always be better. Build with REI co-op members, the experts who work in our stores, and a wilderness spirit born in 1938.”

I wrote “You do you, baby” to promote the unique product assortment at Zulily, focusing on kids’ items with an emphasis on baby products.
“5 out of 5 dragons agree, ‘These toys are lit’” lets prospective customers know (in a fun way) that Zulily offers toys from recognizable brands.

This campaign introduced a new line of REI basics under the label “REI Co-Op.” The products were designed to offer a more accessible price point while still maintaining high quality standards. I wrote the tagline “Outdoor essentials for all” to express the idea of inclusivity and affordability, as well as nodding to the product assortment. I wrote the copy in the ads from the perspective of the gear and clothing, celebrating the joys of getting outside.
